Project Runway: Season 8 Episode 9

(disclaimer: this is written more than twenty-four hours after watching the episode, so I don't have the best recollection of what happened)

The challenge was to create a couture look, using the inspiration from L'Oreal makeup. Tim Gunn said that velvet would be a challenge so, of course, Gretchen chose it, probably just to show off to the judges. And Michael Costello immediately had to start insulting her. Sure, I'm not the biggest fan of Gretchen, but the insults from Michael C is getting annoying.

When they went to Mood for fabric, the little dog was there. What is with that dog? Has he been on any other season? Why is he there in the first place?

On day two of the challenge, Tim Gunn revealed a twist to the challenge. They had to create a second look, ready to wear. That just made me mad. Time restrictions and the amount of work the designers have to do looks exhausting, and I hate how they're being treated like they're in a sweat factory. Okay, I know it's not that bad, but you've got to admit that it is bad.

Now, onto the designs. I absolutely hated Gretchen's, and I do not understand how it got to be in the top. It was baggy, and the feathers looked ridiculous. And the hair... barf! The ready to wear look was a little bit better, but it was far from great. What were the judges thinking?!

Christopher definitely should have replaced Gretchen in the top. His design was so sweet and angel like! I loved the creme colors and lace on the couture dress, and it looked very well made. And the ready to wear look was so simple but goddess like. He definitely should have been on the top... Although I'm very happy with the winner!

I love Mondo. I've loved every single design of his... except for the first one, I admit. But I definitely fell in love during the Marie Claire challenge. I loved the corset thing he did on top with the pink stripes, and I loved how he used the same type of stripes in different colors. I love colors, just like him! And his ready to wear obviously was a stem off of his couture dress, but not so literal like Michael C's.

I liked how Michael C's ready to wear was such a mini me of his couture gown (although I wasn't a fan of the gown), but I would've preferred a different color. He went a little too literal, trying too hard to make the dresses "match."

Ivy's dress was just gruesome and she definitely deserved to go home. The dress looked like it was inside out and unfinished, and the blues did not go together. It was a horrible color combination and horribly sewn. And she said she had good construct capabilities. Yeah, right.

As for Valerie, I understood her meltdown. And I wasn't too blinded by her couture dress... but I'm just going to say that I didn't like her ready to wear. But I'm really happy that the judge's kept her in.

Bright Lipstick/Curly Hair

I wore a thrifted black and white shirt day... with a pencil skirt that was pretty short. I learned that I can't wear lace up shoes with that skirt ever again. And I have a red build-a-bear ribbon in my hair! Loooove ribbons!

I also love bright lipstick with curly hair. Sorry, but you can't really tell that I curled my hair in these pictures, but I definitely did. I'm wearing Raspberry Glace from Clinique. I'm hoping to find a new bright lipstick from Mac from the Venemous Villains collection! I'm sooo excited for September 30!

Birthday Post

This is the outfit I wore for my birthday!
And the earrings my friend got me matched my outfit perfectly! And they're very pretty earrings, too! I love them!

And a story about when my friend gave me the entire package thing with both my card and my earrings. We were discussing the Harry Potter club, and another friend said that maybe my owl finally came in the package. And I opened it, an there was actually an owl on the card! My friend didn't even plan it!

Baseball Game

I went to a Giants game today. I'm not a big sports fan, but baseball is okay. But back to not being a big sports fan... because of this, I didn't have any jerseys or baseball attire to wear to the game. So I just wore something comfortable/cutesie. I wore a black and white striped shirt from Goodwill, skinny jeans from Marshalls, and an ORANGE sweatshirt, just to stay with the whole Giants theme. And last minute I decided to throw on a white scarf that I knitted myself since it was cold and muggy outside... perfect weather for scarves!!
And I said I was going to make a post about different ways to wear my American Eagle dress. Sorry it's about a day late, but I made a video about it...

Monocle

I wore a plaid shirt today, as you can probably see in my picture. In orchestra, we played "The Legend of Sleepy Hallow" which was super awesome. For the first time of this year, I focused and counted in a song, and I was in the middle of a rest when my stand partner questioned me. "Why is everybody wearing those shirts?"
"What?" I snapped.

"The ones with the squares." She was referring to the plaid...

Anyway, my jewelry is an umbrella necklace that I got with a book at Barnes and Noble. Then I have kind of a long chain that my friend gave to me, and the two ends of the chain are attached with an old hoop earring that I have had lying around on my vanity.

I had a fun time putting the hoop up to my eye to look like I was wearing a monocle.

Good Deals at American Eagle

This was the earring I wore today. I think it matches the skirt/dress I wore with it today:

The earrings had been sitting around my house for the longest time, and I didn't even think of them when I bought this dress at American Eagle. Yeah, it's a dress... but I wore it as a skirt. There are four ways I can wear this dress that I can think of at the top of my head... I like pieces that can be changed like that. I might do a blog post about that this weekend.

Anyway, there's a story about how I got this dress. I was shopping with my friend, and I couldn't decide between this dress and a chiffon skirt. So I bought both with the idea that I would decide later which one I liked better. And it was the day of a sale, so the dress was fifteen dollars and the skirt was eleven dollars.

I later chose to keep this purple dress, and I returned the chiffon skirt. But when I returned it, the person got the skirt confused with my dress, and she gave me fifteen dollars instead of eleven dollars. I didn't notice until I was already out of the store.

And when I went back to American Eagle just last weekend, my dress was on the clearance rack since it's a summery dress, and we're entering fall. On clearance, the dress cost twenty dollars. It was even more expensive now!

Four. And I only have one piercing on each ear...
In one hole: flower/pearl/chain earing from Charlotte Russe
Yellow and black earring from the Philippines

In the other hole: earring made from ice cream cone charm bought at Macy's... a looong time ago.
fake diamond from Charlotte Russe. I got the diamond with the flower... and four other pairs of earrings. Six pairs for eight dollars! Look for deals like that!!! =P

And my jeans had this design on them today:

And let me just say that I dislike wearing a belt through necessity and not style.

I wore rainbow socks today... because they were the first ones I ended up pulling out of my basket.

Hollywood Movie Star

Wearing a dress bought at Charlotte Russe during the Labor Day sale. Fishtail braid with yellow ribbon bought at Target.

Starfish earrings from Kohl's. I spent forever looking for these! I was sooo happy to find them at Kohl's! Sunglasses from a little Beauty store. Three sunglasses for twenty dollars is a pretty good deal!

As I walked down the halls at school, somebody told me that I looked like a Hollywood movie star...
